cray|fish «KRAY FIHSH», noun, plural -fish|es or (collectively) -fish.
1. any one of numerous freshwater crustaceans that look much like small lobsters, to which they are closely related.
2. a similar but larger saltwater crustacean. Also, crawfis.
[earlier crevysshe, variant of Middle English creves any crustacean < Old French crevice < Germanic (compare Old High German crebis crab)]
